Welcome to the wonderful world of Forex. I also used to trade stocks. The thing that I enjoy most about Forex is I only have to watch 4 currency pairs instead of 2000+ stocks.
You are smart to learn the fundamentals before risking any money. I recommend my clients got to babypips.com and IBFXU.com as two very good sources for some free education.
Once you get the basics down you might want to open a free demo account with a broker or two and actually trade Forex using "virtual dollars" and not risking any of your hard earned money.
Best wishes for your success and please let me know if you have any questions.

I’ve also jsut started Forex trading and I have to say I love it.
Before I took the jump, I did alot of reading and research to make sure it was something that I really wanted to do. There are some risk, but I felt comfortable enough that I could do Forex trading without losing my house. One article I felt really helpe me start was, http://www.howshouldiinvestmymoney.com/article.cfm/id/63819
Good luck, and I hope you’re able to make a profit. References :

Fundamentals alone will not be enough. Though fundamentals are important, you need technical skills to really learn how to asses the risk properly. Trading is risk management first. Before you do anything, check out the company on the better business bureau. I took a class at Online trading academy. They had an A rating References :
